The Good Old Days
“Baby, Be Simple” – Feist
It used to happen with much more regularity. Pack the truck, pick a spot on a map and head out. No matter the distance, the weather or the obligations we had to disregard.
But things inevitably change and life gets more complicated, as it does for most everyone I suppose. Careers, kids, home ownership, mortgage payments, tuition payments, declining health, ageing parents (or pets), social obligations, etc. Pick just a couple and the opportunity and/or inclination to go can dry up pretty quick.
And as the chances to venture out there dwindle, I imagine its natural to try and pack it all in, to try and squeeze the most out of every spare moment. I implore us all to resist that urge.
Soak it all in instead, because these are the moments we’ll be nostalgic about someday.
No, we are not what we once were and we will never be again.
But the good old days are happening right now, same as they’ve always been.
Nice photos, thanks for sharing!
